Chinese Students After A D7 Style Education
Though separated by thousands of miles and an ocean, SHS and Handan No. 1 High School in China share the same books, the same curriculum and enjoy many of the same teaching styles. On June 15, after a 5-year collaboration, District 7 signed a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Handan School District, our partner school district in China.
On June 15, the mayor of Handan and the superintendent of its school district and made a special trip to Spartanburg for the occasion. Chinese language classes are currently offered at four of the district’s elementary schools, at the Freshman Academy and at the high school. This summer, the Chinese Culture and Education Center is arranging for D7 educators and students to visit China. Handan’s population is approximately 10 million.
