D7 Receives Pre-K Coalition Grant

District 7 has been recognized by the Spartanburg Quality Pre-K Coalition Project and received grant to enhance their 4-year-old kindergarten programs. The S.C. Community Block Grant awarded the funds for education pilot programs and the district was one of eight districts across the state to receive funding. District 7 was awarded close to $195k for 4K services offered at the Cleveland Academy of Leadership, at Z.L. Madden Head Start and the three private centers that participate in state-funded all-day 4K.
John Stockwell, Executive Director, with the Spartanburg Academic Movement (SAM) whose cradle to career mission this grant strengthens was especially excited to hear about this news and wanted to share his congratulations. “The Spartanburg Academic Movement is working to advance readiness for kindergarten success across Spartanburg County; and what we expect to learn from this collaboration with partners from District 7, PCA Head Start, First Steps, and Quality Counts offers the potential to move the kindergarten readiness needle within the City and county-wide.”
