PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator
Adam Babcock, technology integration specialist at Spartanburg High School, has been named a PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator. After a nationwide search, Adam was selected as one of only 100 educators from across the country and the only one in South Carolina. He was chosen for his passion and commitment to innovative teaching practices that integrate digital media and technology in the classroom. Over this past year, Adam trained and coached 9-12th grade teachers on technology integration opportunities as the district implemented its one-to-one MacBook Air and iPad deployment to over 4,200 students.
Over the course of the 2014-2015 school year, Adam will work with his peers thoughtout the country and share strategies around digital media integration. This yearlong professional development program will foster and grow a community of tech-savvy educators that will serve as ambassadors for integrating best practices in digital learning in classrooms across the country.
Adam says his favorite part of his job is working with others to reach deeper learning through collaboration and seeing empowered students lead innovation in education.
ETV’s Palmetto Scene recently featured a segment with Adam and fellow Spartanburg High School teachers and students highlighting these innovations. The five-minute video segment in episode 1414 begins at 16:44.
ETV South Carolina is also currently working with Adam on a promotional spot that celebrates this award and highlights the work his is doing in our district.
