SHS Honored with General Excellence Award in Athletics

District 7 celebrates another year of tremendous accomplishment as a result of the caliber of our students in the area of athletics. For the second straight year, Spartanburg High School has been honored with the prestigious General Excellence Award in Athletics, sponsored by the Spartanburg Herald Journal, for its team and individual accomplishments including state and region titles. Our Vikings had a strong season across the board, winning our first 4A state championship in football, boys tennis and taking state runner-up finishes in girls golf. Our teams also earned region titles in girls golf, girls tennis, girls basketball and boys tennis.
SHS also earned a pair of individual state titles in boys track as Tavien Feaster swept the 100and 200-meter dashes in consecutive years; and Sophomore Chambers Easterling won the individual state tennis championship.
This is the third time in four years, SHS has claimed the award.
We are so very proud of our students, parents, and coaches. Please fans and all future Vikings stand proud knowing you are an important member of this team.
