SHS Senior Earns 2014 AAU Academic All American Award

Sarah Wade, senior at Spartanburg High School, has received the 2014 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Academic All American award. Sarah was one of only six girls named from South Carolina and the only one from Spartanburg. Created in 2013, the award recognizes athletes of the AAU Volleyball program for their excellence in academics as well as athletics.
Sarah played recently with Upward Stars’ top National team in the 41st AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, FL where she was selected and nominated for the award.
Sarah is the captain of SHS varsity volleyball team this year and has been on the team since she was in the eighth grade. Sarah is also currently ranked in the top 1% of her class and is involved in numerous extracurricular activities (treasurer of Anchor club, co-consul of Latin Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, volunteer with Boys and Girls Club). We congratulate Sarah on her continued success in the classroom and on the court.
