State Testing Begins April 12
Beginning April 12 students in 3rd through 8th grade will participate in the South Carolina College-and Career-Ready Assessments (SC READY) are statewide assessments in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics. The SC READY test items are aligned to the standards for each subject and grade level. Standards specify what schools are expected to teach and what students are expected to learn. Academic standards also include indicators that are statements of the specific cognitive processes and the content knowledge and skills that students must demonstrate to meet the grade-level standards. SC READY test items are written to assess the content knowledge and skills described in the academic standards and indicators.
These tests will become part of each student’s permanent school record and are used for class placement in Middle and High School. The results will also be used for school and school district accountability purposes. Parents your cooperation is needed for students to perform to the best of their ability:
• Please see that your child gets plenty of rest on the nights before the test.
• Please see that your child eats a nourishing breakfast on the morning of these tests.
• Please make every effort to have your child in school and on time.
