Teachers of the Year Awards
LaTyphani Littlejohn (Typhani), first grade teacher from The Cleveland Academy of Leadership, has been selected as the 2016-17 Spartanburg School District 7 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Littlejohn finds no greater pleasure than of a servant leader. “Teaching is beyond a career for me. Teaching is a major part of my purpose and my life’s work!” With only 8 years so far in the classroom and the distinction this year of being voted Cleveland’s Teacher of the Year AND District 7’s Teacher of the Year, Littlejohn has proven herself a well respected, effective educator who goes above and beyond to satisfy the needs of her students. She stands out, with her calm disposition and compassionate nature, as a team player who understands the common goal of improving student achievement. In her warm, welcoming classroom Ms. Littlejohn approaches each topic with excitement while also incorporating interactive technology in her lessons to make connections. She says giving her students a purpose for learning is paramount and that it’s her job to help them find success.
Ms. Littlejohn received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from University of South Carolina Upstate and is currently completing an internship for a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision at the America College of Education.
