E.P. Todd opened in 1939 and was known as the Cooperative Elementary School. In 1950 the Cooperative Elementary School officially became a part of Spartanburg School District 7. In 1945, Mr. Edwin Poteat Todd (1909-2006) became principal of the Cooperative Elementary School. He remained principal until his retirement in 1974. In 1972 the Cooperative Elementary School was renamed E.P. Todd Elementary School in his honor. Todd was located at Cedar Springs Rd. and Southport Rd. until 2000. In that year, Todd was relocated to its current location.
