BUDDY PROGRAM

The “Buddy Program” was developed to allow teachers and students in a regular education setting to better understand what it is like to live with a disability through participation in activity centers. At the same time, it is important for our students to engage in social activities with other students who are able to model age appropriate social skills and behaviors. Moreover, we have some college-age nursing students through colleges in the community who have a better understanding of students with disabilities which can assist in possibly leading to a career in working with this student population. Activities that allow the partnering of special and regular education children and caring people in the community are truly a wonderful learning experience for all involved.
