Teacher with a student

Pine Street Elementary, located in the Upstate of South Carolina in the city of Spartanburg, opened in 1929 in Spartanburg School District Seven. Pine Street School has a rich heritage of student excellence and community tradition.

When our doors first opened, our school contained six classrooms. Since then, there have been two major construction projects and one major renovation. The latest major construction project, completed in 1999, included a new cafeteria, gymnasium, a spacious media center with state of the art technology, and three additional wings. The rest of the school has been thoroughly renovated. All of these renovations preserve and blend with the building’s original architecture. More recently, our office suite was completely redesigned to offer increased security for our students and state of the art reception for our visitors.

Entering Pine Street School through our Boyd Street entrance allows you to follow in the footsteps of neighborhood children since 1929. Our handsome columned lobby reminds us daily that our school has been part of this urban community for 90 years. Our other entrance, however, strikes a different welcome. Visitors who enter here step into a modern two-story glass-walled lobby that is the centerpiece of a $9 million building project that was completed in 2000. In the lobbies and throughout the school, we proudly display some of our treasures: student, parent, and teacher writing, artwork, and photographs from the past to the present. Students, parents, faculty, and staff value the tradition of excellence at Pine Street. We appreciate our past and look to the future with enthusiasm and dedication.
