About The Library

Library Catalog
The library serves approximately 750 students in grades 6-8 with a collection of more than 9,000 books, ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines accessed through our Destiny Catalog, and many online databases available through DISCUS.

We strive to be the reading, research, and recreational hub of the school. With the help of teachers and students, we are constantly updating our resources to reflect the academic and recreational needs of our school community. Extracurricular book clubs and News Literacy classes are sponsored by the media center to offer additional opportunities for student involvement.

Magazines available in the Carver Library for the 2024-2025 school year are Chop Chop, Discover, The Week Jr., Cobblestone, Faces, Fortune, Girls Life, American Teen, National Geographic Kids and Sports Illustrated Kids.

Library Hours
To serve our students and staff, our facility is open daily from 7:30 am to 3:10 pm. Students may come to the library during the school day with a pass or with a class. Students visit with their ELA classes once a month. A limited number of library passes are available from a Carver staff member supervising each lunch period.

Circulation Policy
Students may check out three books and magazines for up to one month. Books may also be renewed. An ebook and audiobook collection is available for student use through Mackinvia. Although students are not charged for overdue books, they are responsible to pay for books that are damaged or not returned.

Philosophy
We envision the Carver Media Center as the middle school information hub inspiring the Carver family with a passion for lifelong learning. We strive to provide all students and staff at Carver Middle School with the skills to access, critique, and use information independently to support, enrich, and supplement classroom instruction; stimulate intellectual curiosity and creativity; support the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the world; develop critical judgment and aesthetic appreciation; and celebrate reading.
