The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) system works so well at Carver Middle School that AVID, a global nonprofit, selected Carver as a National Demonstration School in 2016, making it the first site in Spartanburg County. Several times a year, educators come to Carver to witness AVID in action and ask our students questions directly, and Carver has supported the launch of other AVID school programs by serving as a model resource. AVID has also selected Carver as a national Schoolwide Site of Distinction, an award recognizing the highest level of AVID implementation and excellence in promoting college readiness schoolwide. These honors are reserved for only 2% of the 6,000 AVID schools nationwide.  Learn more about the AVID program here.
