Mission Statement
The Spartanburg High School Band is an inclusive and welcoming program that centers around musical performance, learning organizational skills and personal growth. We give performances of all types in several different musical areas: Concert Band, various chamber ensembles, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble and Winterguard. Through musical performance, band members create close ties, friendships, memories and mentorships as we strive to create musical excellence.

The Spartanburg High School Band gives a number of performances throughout the year. The marching band performs at all football games, several selected festivals, and local community parades. The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble give several concerts each year presenting a wide variety of music for winds and percussion. All instrumental students are encouraged to participate in state solo and ensemble festivals, and qualified students are encouraged to audition for All-State Band and Western Region Band. The Jazz Ensemble rehearses during 7th period and periodically after school. Selected students learn to play in a variety of styles such as swing, blues and rock. Improvisational skills are developed in the most highly motivated students.
Marching band rehearsals begin in August prior to the opening of school. Interested students are invited to call the band office (room 1733, phone 594-4410, ext. 1733) for further information.
