Clubs & Activities

Jesse Boyd students have several opportunities to participate in clubs and extracurricular activities during and afterschool. Once a month on Friday, students participate in a club ranging from robotics, juggling, coding, and sign language to animal care.  Students have other opportunities to learn about the world around them through: Kids Club, Girls on the Run, Chorus, the Musical, Art Club, Chess Club, Student Council, and Beta Club.

Chess Club:

The JBE Chess Club gives students the opportunity to learn the game of chess and improve strategic thinking skills. However, there is more to chess club than just learning how the 32 pieces move on the 64 squares. Playing chess is also about fostering friendship among players through healthy competition, challenges, and team building.

Art:

Art Club is for students that enjoy making art and working creatively. Art Club provides opportunities to explore art materials, skills, and techniques further within a creative environment.

Bulldog Chorus:

The Bulldog Chorus is for students in grades 3-5.  Our Bulldog Chorus is for students who enjoy singing. The Bulldog Chorus practices almost every Monday during the school year and has 3 big performances each year and smaller performances during the year.  These performances include a Veteran's Day, Christmas Concert, and a spring concert.

School Musical:

Each year JBE has a musical production. Students in grades 2nd-5th grade are encouraged to try out for the production in October. Practice is twice a week until the production in March.  We also involve our 4K-1st grade students and invite them to do a "pre-show" dance before each performance.

Student Council:

Student council is for students in grades 3-5 who are interested in developing leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  They also prompt the voice of the student and assist in solving problems that impact their community.

Kids Club:

We partner with Kids Clubs to provide afterschool and summer youth development for grades 1-5.  Learn more about Kids Clubs at www.kidsupstate.org.  To enroll your student please ask in the school office.
