Music

All students, kindergarten through fourth grade, have general music classes once or twice a week. Fifth grade students have the option to remain in general music or sign up to take band or orchestra.Music enriches and delights every child in ways related to his or her stage of development. With the guidance of four elementary music specialists, each student discovers the joy and satisfaction of music-making through singing, creating, moving, listening, and performing, thus supplying the foundation for lifelong musical learning and understanding.

Band

Fifth grade students have the opportunity of beginning their instrumental musical career  by enrolling in band. Band class includes instruction for woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments.

We strive to develop fine musicians and students of high character. I look forward to having your student enroll in band. For more information about the band's program, email mr. Matt McDaniel.

Orchestra

Orchestra classes are available for 5th graders. Each year our orchestra students learn the fundamentals of playing a string instrument through class instruction and  performance opportunities. For more information about the orchestra, please email helen tipton.

Bulldog Chorus

For students in grades 3-5, our bulldog chorus is for students who enjoy singing. The bulldog chorus practices almost every monday during the school year and has 3 big performances each year and smaller performances during the year.  These performances include a veteran's day, christmas concert, and spring concert.

Musical

Each year jbe has a musical production. Students in grades 2nd-5th grade are encouraged to try out for the production in october. Practice is twice a week until the production in march.  We also involve our 4k-1st grade students and invite them to do a "Pre-show" dance before each performance.

Visual Arts

The Jesse Boyd Elementary art curriculum provides students with the experience to learn how to communicate through art, develop skills in visual problem solving, as well as craftsmanship and technique. Art teaches students to appreciate the historical and current purposes for the creation of art and its cultural diversities. Art encourages students to make connections to real-life and other subjects. Art stimulates the development of critical and creative thinking skills. JBE’s art program is led by Ms. Claire Louka.

Physical Education

Health and Wellness is very important to us at Jesse Boyd. To that regard, students are involved in physical activity to the highest extent possible.

A large part of that is our PE program.

Coach Kevin Brabham and Coach Dustin Kite provide an amazing program in/out of the gym for our students.
