COVID-19 Guidelines and Information
Exclusion for Positive COVID-19 Cases
Positive cases will be excluded until at least 24 hours after fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medicines and symptoms are significantly improving.
Reporting positive cases is not required, but parents and staff are encouraged to inform their school nurse of COVID-19 cases as well as other illnesses.
Monitoring for Respiratory Illness Outbreak (RSV, COVID-19, Flu, and similar illnesses)
School nurses will continue to monitor for outbreaks of a variety of illnesses in our schools.
A respiratory illness outbreak is identified when 20% or more of the individuals within a shared setting (classroom, shared childcare room, sports team, or other group comprised of five or more people) are absent or sent home due to a respiratory illness within a 72-hour period.
Symptoms qualifying for respiratory illness include a temperature of 100 degrees or greater combined with a cough and/or sore throat
In the event of an outbreak, the regional DHEC office is notified and provides next guidance.
