Jeff Stevens

The Spartanburg School District Seven Board of Trustees voted to select Jeff Stevens as the school district’s next Superintendent during their regular board meeting on Tuesday, February 4, pending contract negotiations. Stevens is expected to begin his duties as superintendent on July 1, 2020 and will work with the district and board prior to the official start date to ensure a smooth transition.

“The District Seven Board of Trustees conducted a thorough search with a diverse field of candidates and was fortunate to have three excellent finalists. We believe that Jeff Stevens’ leadership, experience, and dedication to District 7 will best serve our students and community as we build on the momentum of the last decade to achieve even greater excellence,” said Sanders Lee, chair of the Board of Trustees. “Jeff Stevens has earned the trust of this community and of our District 7 students, staff and parents. As we look to the future with great ambition, that will be an invaluable asset to his leadership.”

Stevens currently serves as Chief Operations Officer for Spartanburg School District Seven. He served as principal of Spartanburg High School for eleven years and has also served as principal of McCracken Junior High school, assistant principal of Spartanburg High School, and as a teacher at E.P. Todd Elementary. He holds master's degrees from Converse College and Furman University, and a bachelor's degree from Western Carolina University.

This appointment comes after a months-long community feedback and candidate search process the Board began earlier this year when current superintendent, Dr. Russell Booker, announced his plan to retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. The South Carolina School Boards Association assisted the Board of Trustees throughout the hiring process.
